Frequently asked questions
Do I need a prescription? Yes. In Germany, speech therapy is prescribed by a doctor – for example your GP, ENT specialist, phoniatrician, paediatrician, neurologist or orthodontist.
How do sessions work? Depending on the diagnosis, sessions of 30, 45 or 60 minutes are prescribed, usually once or twice a week.
Who pays? Costs are usually covered by statutory and private health insurance. Adults with statutory insurance pay the legal co-payment; children and teenagers under 18 are exempt.
